Dimension 2.4: Differentiation- The teacher differentiates instruction, aligning methods and techniques to diverse student needs. |
During the Fall of 2019, I was able to teach a few lessons to a group of Kindergarten students. I collaborated with their art teacher to do a few art activities, including a collage based activity where students cut out pictures of various foods to put together a complete plate of healthy foods!
We first watched a video about food groups and balance and I modeled a healthy plate using the format from the video. Students then moved to the art room to work on their collage. I built in some modifications such as allowing early finishers to label their food groups and add a sweet treat on the back of their plate. I also wrote some modifications that could be used on more of a student by student basis, such as presenting students with single pages rather than entire magazines so they don’t get overwhelmed.
Read more about the differentiation I included and see pictures of the final product below!
