Progression Calendar

Going into this semester, I knew that I was not going to be able to have the typical student teaching experience. The first four weeks of the year were going to be virtual, and then there was the question of whether or not we would come back to school, whether my cooperating teacher would stay virtual, whether or not I would be able to complete my total teach, and what my time as a student teacher would look like overall. We heavily adjusted my progression calendar and made it something that would work well for our situation, and something that we could adjust as we needed to.

Week 1– Learn student names, virtual school procedures and schedule, class rules, and behavior management techniques.

Week 2– Participating in morning and closing meetings and have a daily read aloud.

Week 3– Teach first lesson.

Week 4– Continue daily read alouds, lead morning and closing meetings. Begin grading some of the Seesaws.

Transition to hybrid in person and virtual learning

Week 5– Take over Heggerty (phonemic awareness) during morning meeting and begin picking up students from essential areas. Take over 1 in person small group and 1 online small group.
